On August 9th, the North Carolina legislature passed a budget that included a tax increase on several services, including satellite TV. The budget also unfairly included a tax credit for cable customers that continues to place a heavier tax burden on North Carolina’s 900,000 satellite subscribers.
The outcry from families and business across the state, however, let lawmakers in Raleigh know that satellite TV subscribers aren’t getting a fair deal – and that big cable companies aren’t paying their fair share.
Thank you for contacting legislators – by phone, email and in person - to let them know you oppose their effort to impose any unfair tax on satellite. As the legislature considers tax issues moving forward, we must remain vigilant in our fight to defeat unfair taxation of satellite TV subscribers across North Carolina.
